Philly Fights Cancer is a charitable event that supports clinical trials and translational research at the Abramson Cancer Center (ACC) of the University of Pennsylvania. The first two star-studded, sold-out galas raised $3.5 and $5.5 million respectively.

Round 3 took place on Saturday, October 28th at Philadelphia’s iconic Navy Yard. This year’s Mistress of Ceremonies was the legendary “EGOT” (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony) winner Whoopi Goldberg. The evening featured Grammy, Oscar and Golden Globe winner, headliner John Legend and a performance from America’s Got Talent star and cancer survivor, Caly Bevier. The night didn’t end there. The Philly Fights Cancer After-Party was headlined by the iconic, 9-time Grammy-winning group, Earth, Wind & Fire.

In addition to showcasing the talent of our star performers, Philly Fights Cancer honored extraordinary individuals who are all-stars in their commitment to furthering the fight against cancer, Lynn M. Schuchter, MD, Chief of the Division of Hematology Oncology and C. Willard Robinson Professor of Hematology-Oncology and the Tara Miller Melanoma Foundation/Miller Family.

Partnership and support will bring research to life – furthering the ACC’s ability to advance innovative cancer research and develop cutting-edge technology that will drastically improve the outcomes for patients battling cancer. Together, we can offer hope to families that need the revolutionary and personalized care only the ACC can provide.
