Portsmouth, VA — The Crowned Academy (TCA), a nonprofit organization and mentorship academy for girls of color in urban communities, has released the first edition of their 2020 Black G.O.A.L.S. (Girls Overachieving And Leading Society) Calendar. This unique calendar highlights the contributions of over 200 black female trailblazers – past and present – featuring monthly inspirational quotes, significant dates, and 12 riveting reenactments of historic black women dramatically portrayed by TCA members.
“We are excited about the release of the inaugural Black G.O.A.L.S. Calendar and hope that it inspires girls and young women to be motivated like Michelle Obama, courageous like Coretta Scott King, or revolutionary like Ruby Bridges – 365 days a year,” said TL Chisholm, Founder of the Crowned Academy. “As important, we hope this calendar will serve as a historical reference for our young girls unfamiliar with the accomplishments of such powerful female pioneers.”
The calendar will be accompanied by an inspirational t-shirt that will be released each month to celebrate the contributions of the 12 featured trailblazers. Customers will have the option to subscribe to The Black G.O.A.L.S. Getter Box that will ship out a t-shirt and a gift relevant to the woman featured for the month.
TCA will kick off their National Tour with an official signing and launch party for the Calendar at Roger Brown’s in Olde Towne Portsmouth on Monday, December 16 at 6pm. Calendars will be available for purchase at every stop on their tour.
The 2020 Black G.O.A.L.S. Calendar is now on sale for $19.95 and available for purchase at www.thecrownedacademy.com. Proceeds will support The Crowned Academy’s programs and services, as well as the Girls Up Foundation, which provides refugee girls in Uganda uniforms and textbooks to enable them to enroll in school.
