Philadelphia, PA – Recording Artist Meek Mill together with business mogul, 76ers partner Michael Rubin established a $2 million-dollar scholarship fund to support underserved students in the Philadelphia area. As the education system is often inequitable in inner-city areas, this fund aims to provide resources to those desperately in need.

The scholarship fund will go in effect immediately, the 2020-2021 school year. Approximately 1000 students from pre-kindergarten through high school will benefit from this fund. Specifically giving aid to poverty-stricken households to cover tuition for private and parochial schools, the fund will also provide access to home and school technology for items such as laptops, tablets and wi-fi availability.

This isn’t the first business venture between the two. Both Meek and Rubin are Co-Chairs and Founding Partners of the Reform Alliance, an alliance of leaders from various industries that is dedicated to change laws, policies and practices that perpetuate the horrific injustice that exists in America. The Reform Alliance focuses on revamping legislation that governs probation and parole. Changes have already been made to laws such as in California, with many states in eyesight of transformation.

Even in solo endeavors, Meek is a voice of encouragement and motivation. Coming up in the mean streets of Philly, Meek can relate to the issues the youth and residents face. Learning from his experiences he often attempts to school the youth, be it through tweets or in this case scholarship funds. In the near future he will be releasing a book on criminal (in)justice and survival through the collaboration between Jay-Z’s Roc Nation and Random House. Another collab deemed to highlight voices of those who often go unheard. Salute to Meek and all those who devote passionate efforts in the community.
